Goldstein Leaves SCA for World Trade Center

The former head of New York City's school construction
efforts will oversee the building of the World Trade Center
memorial. Also, the region's design and architectural firms
fill key positions with new hires and promotions.
NEW HIRES
William Goldstein has been named executive vice president
of construction for the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation.
He will oversee construction of the World Trade Center Memorial,
Memorial Museum, and related facilities. Goldstein had most
recently headed the New York City School Construction Authority
for three years and previously had served as deputy executive
director for capital programs for the Port Authority of New
York and New Jersey.
Troy Walters has been appointed CFO for ACC Construction,
a general contracting and construction management firm based
in New York.
Peter Palazzo was recently appointed president of George
A. Fuller Construction, a subsidiary of Cappelli Enterprises,
a real estate developer based in Valhalla, N.Y.
Brad Ruder has been named vice president of Control Construction,
a general contracting and construction management firm based
in Katonah, N.Y. Kenneth Martin, formerly CFO of the Control
Group, the construction unit's parent company, has been promoted
to president.
Paul Kurklen has joined Macro Consultants, a Brooklyn-based
firm specializing in project management, owner's representation,
and furniture management, as senior project manager.
Bruce Jones has been named chief administrative officer at
B.R. Fries & Associates, a construction services firm
based in New York.
Kenneth Justice has joined the Northeast Cement Shippers
Association as promotion director for New Jersey and Delaware.
Joseph Cunningham has been hired as vice president of marketing
and sales at Stone Construction Equipment, an equipment design
and manufacturing firm based in Honeoye, N.Y.
Dvirka and Bartilucci Consulting Engineers, an environmental
consulting engineering firm based in Woodbury, N.Y., recently
hired Meaghan Baldwin as a geologist, Christine Beaver as
an environmental engineer, Berc Kurkciyan as a structural
engineer, Sharon Cooperstein as an environmental scientist,
and Kelly Pedone as an executive secretary.
Hillier Architecture, based in Princeton, N.J., has hired
Richard Bednarczyk as a designer, David Midthassel as an interior
design project manager and Jonathan Zane as a senior project
architect. Also, the firm promoted Ivan Rosa to senior associate
and named several new associates: Meredith Lynn Bostwick,
Shefali Kothari, Christian Mare, Emil Martone, Jesse McCarter,
Michelle Nam, Andrew Repoli, and Jennifer Wood.
PROMOTIONS
Boris Gimelshteyn has been named vice president at Thornton-Tomasetti
Group, an engineering and design firm based in New York.
Stephen Thomas, Lynn DiCarlo, Stephen Berdel, and Joseph
Cassata have been promoted to associate vice president at
Cannon Design, a planning and design firm based in Buffalo,
N.Y.
Robert Firneis has been promoted to senior associate at JMOA,
a construction management firm based in Pleasantville, N.Y.,
where he will specialize in K-12 school projects.
HONORS AND APPOINTMENTS
The New York State Association of Transportation Engineers
has named Jean Shanahan, a transportation analyst with the
New York Metropolitan Transportation Council, its 2006 Engineer
of the Year for its Section 8, which represents the Poughkeepsie
region.
Terrence O'Neal, founder and principal of New York-based
Terrence O'Neal Architect, an architectural, design, and project
management firm, has been named president of the New York
State chapter of the American Institute of Architects for
2006.
Mark Strauss, a principal at FXFowle Architects of New York,
has begun his new term as president of the New York City chapter
of the American Institute of Architects for 2006.
John Sorrenti, president of JRS Architect, based in Mineola,
N.Y., has been appointed to the New York State Board of Architecture
by the New York State Board of Regents.
John Scheschareg, president of Oculus Consulting Group, a
code consulting and plans processing firm based in New York,
has been named a national director of the Society of American
Registered Architects.
