Tormenta Promoted to LiRo Group CEO
The former commissioner of the N.Y.C. Department of Design and Construction is now the Long Island firm’s CEO and vice chairman. Also, Cannon Design and Thornton Tomasetti name new vice presidents.
NEW HIRES
Steve Grogg has been appointed chief of the site-civil engineering division at McLaren Engineering Group, an engineering firm based in West Nyack, N.Y. In addition, Larry O’Connor has been named deputy chief of the bridge, highway, and rail division and Richard Wurster hired as CFO.
Helmut Cerovsek has been named vice president of Thornton Tomasetti, an engineering and design firm based in New York. The firm also promoted Erleen Hatfield to vice president.
Jim Erlacher has been hired as executive vice president of development of Tarragon Development, a real estate developer based in New York. Ellen Baer has been named senior vice president for development strategies.
David Jacob has been appointed senior director of Hypo Real Estate Capital, the New York-based subsidiary of Hypo Real Estate Bank International, a financial institution catering to the commercial real estate industry.
Steven Vastola has joined Dvirka and Bartilucci Consulting Engineers, an environmental consulting engineering firm based in Woodbury, N.Y., as a resident engineer. The firm also hired Christina Mefford as a CAD technician and Brian Werner as an environmental scientist.
Eugene Flotteron has been appointed vice president of project development at Swig Equities, a real estate development, investment, and management firm based in New York. In addition, Andrew McKessey has been appointed controller at Falcon Pacific Construction, an affiliate of Swig Equities.
Michael Dambrosio has been named safety products manager at AWISCO Corp., a distributor of compressed gases, welding, safety, and industrial supplies based in Maspeth, N.Y.
Christopher Laul has been appointed principal and director of business development in the New York office of Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum, an architecture and design firm based in St. Louis.
Neil Garfinkel, partner-in-charge of the real estate and banking practice at Abrams Garfinkel Margolis Bergson of New York, has been retained by the Real Estate Board of New York as its new residential legal counsel.

Luis Tormenta has been promoted to CEO of the LiRo Group, a construction management, engineering, and architectural firm based in Syosset, N.Y. He was previously COO and retains the title of vice chairman.
Joseph Cassata has been promoted to vice president of Cannon Design, an engineering and planning firm based in Grand
Island, N.Y.
Michael Chionchio and Randy Apfelbaum have been promoted to associate director in the New York office of Jones Lang LaSalle, a Chicago-based real estate development management and services firm. Also, Spencer Jurman has been promoted to national director and will remain at the New York office, and Nick Hayden has been promoted to senior vice president and group manager of the firm’s New York operations unit.

Thomas Pajolek, senior vice president of the Stamford, Conn., office of CB Richard Ellis, a commercial real estate services firm based in Los Angeles, has been named the top leasing producer in Westchester and Fairfield counties by his company.
Carlton Brown, principal and COO of Full Spectrum Building and Development, a New York-based real estate development firm, has been appointed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg to the board of New York City’s new Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability.
Louis Gambaccini was honored by New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine for his efforts in 1979 to help create New Jersey Transit during a recent ceremony at the agency’s headquarters. The headquarters facility was renamed the “Louis J. Gambaccini Building” and will have a permanent dedication plaque.

EMCOR Group, a mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure, and facilities services firm based in Norwalk, Conn., has acquired S. A. Comunale, a privately held fire protection and mechanical services company headquartered in Akron, Ohio.
Golder Associates, an employee-owned engineering and earth sciences company, has relocated from Cherry Hill, N.J., to Mount Laurel, N.J.
Seaboard Weatherproofing and Restoration of Port Chester, N.Y., was named a recipient of the New York Landmarks Conservancy’s Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award, for its extensive restoration work on the 90 West Street building in Manhattan. Seaboard and other team members were formally recognized at the 15th annual Moses awards ceremony and reception at St. Bartholomew’s Church in New York.
